Many people with drug or alcohol addictions believe that inpatient rehabilitation is their only option for recovery. They have received this notion from TV or from family and friends who have been told this information, but the reality is that there are many different forms of treatment. Some treatment is residential in nature, meaning that the individual will live at the facility for the duration of their stay, but for those who are so situated in their life where getting away for 30 to 90 days is not possible, there are outpatient levels of care that may be more suited to their needs.

JourneyPure Bowling Green offers intensive outpatient rehab in Kentucky because we understand that each individual person suffering from substance abuse will need a personalized approach to their recovery. Some will require 24-hour care while others will flourish in a setting where they can come and go as they please, getting the support they need in order to acclimate to a sober life.

In our intensive outpatient rehab in Kentucky, patients will attend the program on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30pm-8:30pm. Supportive sober housing can be arranged for individuals who require additional support and structure while engaged in an outpatient setting.

What is Intensive Outpatient For Drug and Alcohol Addiction?

Intensive Outpatient, like our intensive outpatient rehab in Kentucky, is a level of care in substance abuse treatment that does not require the individual to stay at the facility for the duration of their stay. What this means is that those who attend our intensive outpatient rehab in Kentucky will go to group and individual therapy sessions a few times throughout the week, but will live at home and continue to meet familial, work, and other life obligations.

Many times intensive outpatient is a step down in treatment level care from inpatient or PHP treatment, but there are times when an individual may begin their treatment process at the IOP level.

Those who attend our intensive outpatient rehab in Kentucky will participate in group and individual therapy sessions during the day or night, and this gives them the flexibility to continue to work or meet any other obligations that they may have. We have found that while allowing individuals to continue on in their daily routines during substance abuse treatment does cause added life stressors to occur, it also allows for them to get added support from family and friends and deal with those stressors as they arise.

Who Is Best Suited For Intensive Outpatient Rehab in Kentucky?

Some patients decide to enter into our outpatient services after completing a residential stay, while others find outpatient services are sufficient for their unique treatment needs. If you are unsure if you are better suited for an intensive outpatient treatment experience rather than the inpatient therapy model, contact our addiction specialists to discuss your unique requirements.

Some clients choose one option over the other due to barriers involved with being away for thirty days or more, these reasons may include work or family obligations that preclude a stay at JourneyPure Bowling Green. For individuals like this, it does not mean that treatment is beyond their grasp, but rather that there must be a treatment program that can be customized to fit their schedule.

For instance, if an individual has to continue to work, then they can attend our IOP program at night after their work has concluded. The same goes for a person who has to care for children. They can attend our IOP during the day while their kids are at school and are home in time to meet their parental obligations.

It should be stated though that the clients who are best suited to begin their recovery journey with outpatient services must be medically stable and not experiencing withdrawal symptoms. The reason for this is two-fold. For one, some substances can have fatal withdrawal symptoms and professional medical assistance should be sought out when detoxing from these substances. Second, when an individual is going through withdrawals, they are more apt to relapse back into using, because of either the psychology strain of withdrawals or because of the physical withdrawal symptoms they are experiencing.

Going along with this, an individual who starts treatment at the IOP level should have a supportive home life where they will be helped along the way. If they are living with an individual who is currently involved in substance abuse or if they are having a tremendous amount of difficulty at home, then IOP may not be the best way to start their treatment program.

Lastly, we believe that an individual who attends our IOP program should be open to the consideration of a residential stay if use continues while undergoing outpatient services. This occurs sometimes, where a person starts in IOP but realizes that they cannot stay sober under this level of care, and so they opt to attend one of our more intensive programs as a result.
